Genre

Thank You Dora, Thank You Love Life.

Sunday, October 31, 2010

不要。

可能有的人的难过,孤独,迷乱,是我们不能够了解的;
可能有的人活在一个只有自己和黑暗的世界里面;
可能有的人无法说出自己的内心,无法做到自己想要做的事;

Lucky Music Video

Music Video Production was the second assignment for VP1.
There were 8 people in the team this time.
The song that we chosen is Lucky by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caliet.
The first truly experience of shooting.
Get to know some funny people, learn more about shooting, abit about editing, be patient and be ready always.
Five days of fun and tired shooting ended up with nice MV and great presentation! :)
Lucky I'm in love with my best friend...

Here .W.E. are!

Lecturer Mr.Jeffri and Ms Roslina.

The whole VP1 class!

I really like the MV very much, with most suitable "couple", appropriate location, nice angle, great editing and our hard work!
And I am missing the shooting period when i am blogging on this.
Thankyou so much for giving me a memorable experience! :)

Air Asia TVCommercial

I am a mass comm student, majoring in Film and Television Production.
This is my first step by exploring myself more in media and production side.
Sigh for not broadcasting, but I am trying my best to move forward to what I can choose and do.

Video Production 1 was taken on last semester.
This is a fundamental subject for all those FTV students by introducing to the production team and basic shooting skill, experiencing on the professional equipments, and get to know more about editing.
The first assignment that assigned by the lecturer is a 30 sec Commercial.
Everyone has to present a very own script and the lecturer will select four out of that follow by the shooting and editing process.
Fortunately, I am one of the Director as my script was chosen.

It is an Air Asia TVC.
It took us two shooting days. Second shooting was carried out since the 1st try was not satisfy enough.
There are 6 people in the team.
Be frankly, I think I didn't contribute much during the production, except for the idea of the script. Due to lack of experience and communication problem, "director" is simply just a post.
Anyway, I learn from others who know better.
Involving and observing are important steps before we start trying, right?
Always set a higher target to obtain a good outcome, advice from my high school principal.
I will bear it in mind whenever I go.

Here you go for the Air Asia TVC!

There is always difference between planning and production.
Did you get the meaning behind?
:)

Thankyou :)

Every little corner let you find out more about the story of coffee.

Every little word let you know more about the story of coffee.

Hard W.O.R.K.

First Visit -190910 Sunday

Second Visit -201010 Monday

Third Visit -211010 Tuesday

Fourth Visit -161010 Saturday

Documentary

The main assignment for Video Production 2 in this sem is to shoot a 10 minute documentary.
The new part time lecturer just simply gave us some guideline and briefly explained about the assessment.
This was what he did, threw an assignment to us and let us do everything by ourself afterward.
Last month, I was struggled for this assignment, wondered what should do and questioned myself alot.
How can a documentary be consider as good? What are the procedure or steps we as a new learner should follow in order to produce a documentary? I been worried about the editing, since everyone in the group is not familiar with the editing software at all. And slowly, I found myself lost. I even doubted myself on the basic question that what actually a documentary is?

When no one we can rely to, we are the only one that can help ourself out.
I did my own research, looking for the topic that I am interested in and under my ability, try to plan on the detail of everything.
Then, I found these video clips online.
I think the time when we are willing to learn, we can learn more.
And the first thing came into my mind after watching these videos are, I definitely learn more from these videos compare to the lecture in Uni that I paid for RM1500.
Not sometimes, but I feel like my tuition fee is a waste all along this semester!

Here come with those YouTube video clips about Documentary and little about editing.
The videos show together with basic and simple explanation about documentary and easy to understand as well.

What is a documentary?

How do we start?

Shooting Tips.

Question: Documentary is subjective or objective?
I like the question that asked by the 15 years old student very much.
In my opinion, I think documentary is subjective, just as the same with the news written by journalists. As the DOP and editor in this assignment, I can realize that the perspective on the documentary is totally based on the director, the production team. This is a bias that cannot be avoided.

Post Production
Editing influences much in a documentary. It is either make the video great or worse.
For me, I think it is important for the director to master or know about the shooting skill together with editing. A balance should be achieved.

Learning by ourself is sometimes better than learning in class.
In the comment box of the student evaluation form, I would like to fill in like this,
"Apart from study by ourself, we as a student should have the opportunity to learn things from the class by paying for the costly tuition fee."
Hope our Uni management is really processing on our precious comments!

At last, something I want to share with others in the nearly end of this semester.
I realize something after went through about one and a half month of this semester.
When we encounter obstacles in our life, study or work, rather than feeling upset or give up on it, we should find ways to solve it.
The main point here is when you meet some difficulties, deal it with the most basic, most underlying method.
You don't know how to use Final Cut Pro, then use Window Movie Maker (told by a senior).
You didn't manage to find your internship job, search and apply again, send your resume and call again.
Back to the fundamental way to deal with the problem, it will seem easier to be solve.
Waiting is suffering, but happiness comes after suffering.
The most important is you believe that you will reach the final goal later, you persist not to give up.

Her elegance Morning

Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie

Sun been down for days

A pretty flower in a vase
A slipper by the fireplace
A cello lying in its case

Soon she’s down the stairs
Her morning elegance she, wears
The sound of water makes her dream
Awoken by a cloud of steam
She pours a daydream in a cup
A spoon of sugar sweetens up

And she fights for her life as she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain as it pours
And she fights for her life as she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught by a thread
She pays for the bread and she goes
Nobody knows

Sun been down for days
A winter melody she plays
The thunder makes her contemplate
She hears a noise behind the gate
Perhaps a letter with a dove
Perhaps a stranger she could love

And she fights for her life as she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain as it pours
And she fights for her life as she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught by a thread
She pays for the bread and she goes
Nobody knows
Nobody knows

And she fights for her life as she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain as it pours
And she fights for her life as she goes in a store
Where the people are pleasantly strange
And counting the change as she goes
Nobody knows
Nobody knows
Nobody knows

From
wiki, Oren Lavie is an Israeli singer, songwriter, playwright and theatre director.
His music video for "Her Morning Elegance" has come in to recent popularity, earning a 2010 Grammy Award nomination for the "Best Short Form Music Video".

As what Xiao Hou thought, I think this music video is great too!
It is simple, but creativity is exist in every particular shoot.
I like the combination of everything in this MV especially just the walking part of the lady!
Bravo!
Besides, the songs make me feel comfortable and maybe a little more on laziness, I guess.
I am not so sure about it but definitely I enjoy watching it very much.
I like morning the most if I could wake up early in the morning.
We should appreciate and enjoy every second of our life, isn't it?
I am still a learner. :)

I am wishing for a simple morning on this Saturday!
Probably having a Big Breakfast with my sister at the mee stall nearby our house?
Yeah!

Chocolate

Titled Chocolate, the film was written and directed by the late Yasmin Ahmad.

A quiet tale that reminds us that, despite the multifaceted contradiction of Malaysia, life goes on – even if not all of it is sweet. more at 15MALAYSIA

This piece is equally deep and absolutely thought-provoking. She has been able to compress so many messages into this short piece. The piece lasts about two minutes but can let you to think for more than two hours! You may not catch much when the film just finished. But as you watch it or think about it again, you should gradually catch the elements Yasmin tried to tell you: Cultures, races, generations, hopes, lives, choices, limitations, government...... more at THEDANESHPROJECT

link from SNOWXWHITE:
What Yasmin is trying to tell us is that, the young generation that grow up in Malaysia wish to live in harmony with other races. They want to truly practice the concept 1Malaysia where race is irrelevant, but due to external factors (frankly speaking, this short film referring to parents mainly, but of course it covers other factors such as peer pressure, seniors, national policies, media, politicians and others), topped with parents’ stereotyping on us which contains the this-land-is-for-that-race-only paradigm, coupled with the young generation’s own experience (perhaps they did not acquire fair and just treatment in aspects like education), which slowly forms the prejudice in their minds.

Before this question is asked, the main male character’s eyes were gentle but when his mother shouted a question at him, a question containing the term “Malay granny”, the boy suddenly became hot-tempered. He then said impatiently: “tak cukup tak payah beli lah.”

In the end, the boy put the chocolate back to the counter. It seems like an action of body language that shows frustration after being disturbed. Will the Malay girl come back? We don’t know. The boy didn’t know. Even Yasmin Ahmad didn’t know. But one thing for sure: if this prejudice remains, we will not be living in harmony, nor will the spirit of 1Malaysia come knocking at our doors.

Here is the opinion from 鄭丁賢‧巧克力.
I think his comment is quite good. It make me understand and think more about this short film.

more from 文中有蚊

The Making Of Yasmin Ahmad's 'Chocolate' - 15Malaysia

I had watched this short film at least twice.
Just have a strong feeling to share with my friends here at this moment.
I like it.
p/s: the main character is quite attractive! lolx~ especially when he is talking with the malay girl. wao~~ can't move my attention away from him! lolx~

Hope Malaysia is an UNITE and PEACEFUL country.
Satu Malaysia, Untuk Semua.

Salute to Yasmin Ahmad. :)
